Brands are mocking up their own versions of what looks like a future Apple display, rather than use an actual display. This is all due to the lackluster alternatives. Rather than use a monitor available today, these brands are mocking up monitors that could be Apple's. Current displays are plastic, with names like VP I'd absolutely buy a reasonably priced Atomos monitor that works on a desk as well as on set. The iMac. Sporting a 24" 4. I actually considered buying a new iMac, just to use it as a display and to occasionally render out projects in the background.
In fact, no iMac has supported this since Perhaps we'll see more displays like this if Apple returns? I can only hope this sparks more competition.

I've never looked back and the practical differences were huge between the old Mac display and the stability of the Eizo, which is still going strong and stable even now. I'm sure Apple have got better at displays but there is nothing to compare with an Eizo. I bought mine after extensive research. People seem to love them. I'm having a hard time deciding whether I like this monitor before declaring it "kept" lol.
I do think the glossy aspect of the ACD tricks me into thinking it's nicer, though. Yes, for me, but I'm not the right person to ask.
I'd defer to an objective measure, if I had a reason to worry about it. I do occasional large format printing, and the results match almost perfectly to my eyes every time.

I've owned a few Apple displays and they were good at the time, but that time was 15 years ago. These are factory calibrated to tight standards, and are capable of true hardware calibration not simply using a custom display profile in the OS. I have not used an Asus PA, but if it was one of the factory-calibrated models in that line, I feel like I would choose it over an old Apple Thunderbolt Display. I said in another reply that I would not take an older Apple display over what we have now.
I still have an Apple Cinema, the little brother to the 30". When I see the results of profile updating, not just looking at the screen but also examining the Delta E graphs, my trusty old Apple Cinema does not come close to the accuracy of the NEC pro monitor next to it.
The Apple Cinema's deviation from target values is very disappointing. I am thinking it is because it still uses a CCFL tube backlight, now 13 years old and probably fading unevenly, while everyone including Apple has now moved on to more stable LED backlights.
That is why my Apple Cinema is only allowed to be used for non-color-critical viewing as a second monitor. Ok, excellent. Thanks for the feedback here! Both are 27" at x Actually, this is the resolution I prefer, as I cannot stand 4K resolution at 27" as fonts are too small. BenQ is pretty good. I like the colors. Just like I like the Thunderbolt Display colors. The Thunderbolt has slightly richer colors and has deeper blacks.

A hardware in-system-programming device is the only way to restore the stock firmware. Thunderbolt Display Stories August 18, Watching TV is a social experience, so optimizing the viewing angle for just one person seems odd. But a curved monitor makes much more sense to me, enabling more comfortable viewing from a fixed position at your desk — especially as monitors get larger.
Thunderbolt Display Stories July 24, Ben Lovejoy - Jul. When Apple made a big fuss over the ability of the Mac Pro to support three 4K displays, it signalled that it could only be a matter of time before the company created its own. Texas State University student Edgar Rios has put together these gorgeous-looking concept images.

Anything that can be wireless should be wireless, and any wires that are unavoidable should be hidden from sight. This is particularly easy if you have an Apple Thunderbolt Display, of course, since all you need in the way of wires from a MacBook is power and Thunderbolt: everything else can be plugged into the back of the monitor. Thunderbolt Display Stories March 8, The promise of the Thunderbolt standard is that it can deliver a lot of data over long distances very quickly for many types of devices.
Unfortunately, that promise has been pretty slow to materialize, and the long distance piece of the equation has been particularly painful.
