The truth is, to play with lots of effects, especially those heavy on delay takes a bit of skill in setting up. Also, you have to be careful not to play anything too complex otherwise it can clash with the delay an sound shite. In the end, his playing is all about entertainment and what sounds good and what sounds cool.
I used to be a huge Korn fan back in my High School days. Now, not so much, and as a guitarist, I came to realize that the two guitarists in Korn were a couple guys who got paid and became famous for guitar playing that pretty much lacked any skill whatsoever.
Seems to me, they just made alot of noises, but, when its mixed up with the bass and the drums, it sounded pretty cool to me back then, and I was far from the only one who thought so.
The Edge may not be the most skilled guitarist in the world, but he was creative and helped to make what millions of people think is some pretty awesome music. I never understood what people get out of hating on others. Ultimately it ends up coming back to plain old jealousy that could be averted by practicing a little humility instead.

Are you trying to copy the tone of a specific song? Depending on what you want to do the right option might be easier to find. I'm starting to think that the DD may be good for my purposes. He still have the SDD and uses them for some songs like Bad. The SDD's have a great preamp that give a nice warmth to the guitar tone. Several people are of the opinion that Edge will run his signal through the SDD's just for the preamp and let the TC do the actual delays.

The Memory Man can handle delays up to ms, which is longer than the delay in any U2 song. The longest I know of is Miracle Drug, which seems to use a setting around ms or so. He obviously still uses the SDDs I seem to recall a switch for it labeled on his pedalboard at the beginning of the Vertigo Chicago DVD , but the s are his main live delay units. People are crazy, instead of enjoy the gig they filming, shooting pics and study details on effects.. I doubt if Edge uses this setting purposely, he probably dials it in for these couple of songs based on feel. Usually repeats, mixed softly. The delay on the album is very soft.
You can hear it best in the slight feedback note at See the What Is.. There is very little guitar in the song, and this delay mostly affects occassional fills. Edge has historically always used the Electro-Harmonix Memory Man Deluxe Boy and October albums or the Korg SDDs which were made in the mids and are occassionally available on eBay though at high prices often.
